Job Description

Responsibilities

• Build AI-enabled tools and agents that automate manual work across engineering, support, and operations.
• Create bots and integrations for Slack, PagerDuty, and other business systems.
• Build internal dashboards that provide visibility into service quality and operational activity.
• Integrate LLM APIs and AI coding tools into internal systems.
• Automate incident response and customer support workflows.
• Own projects from design through development, launch, and support.
• Work with senior engineers and leadership to identify and resolve operational friction.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent project or internship work.
• Solid fundamentals in at least one of TypeScript, Ruby, or Go.
• Comfort building with AI coding tools and LLM APIs as part of AI-enabled systems.
• Experience writing scripts, small services, or automations that solve practical problems.
• Clear written communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to work in person from PlanetScale’s San Francisco office.
• Preferred: experience with Slack’s API, GitHub Actions, or similar automation platforms.
• Preferred: exposure to Terraform or Kubernetes.
• Preferred: a side project, bot, or tool built to automate a personal task.

• Base salary range of $120,000–$160,000 USD.
