Job Description

Company Overview

We are partnering with a long-standing, family-owned custom integration company with over 45 years of experience blending smart home technology, lighting control, security, and electrical solutions. As a tight-knit, second-generation firm with a team of around a dozen professionals, this integrator is known for its family-first culture, strong values, and dedication to quality craftsmanship. They are committed to delivering excellence to their clients while genuinely supporting the career growth and work-life balance of their team.

The company is actively growing on both the residential and commercial sides of the business, and they are building out their field team to keep pace.

Why Join Us?

  • Supportive, Family-First Culture: This is a team where your life outside of work is respected. Whether it's family time or personal commitments, they get it, and they support it.
  • A Real Path Into Electrical: Leadership has arranged for a licensed Master Electrician to oversee work, so a technician who wants to build these skills has a genuine route to get there.
  • Certifications on the Company's Dime: Every technician gets certified on the company's alarm and security platforms after hire. If you're strong on one side of the low voltage world and want to round out the other, this is a place that will train you rather than screen you out.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Work: This role touches security and access control, AV installation, lighting control, and networking. If you're tired of doing the same install every day, the variety here is real.
  • Everything You Need to Do the Job Right: Company vehicle, plus all tools and supplies covered. You're not funding the job out of your own pocket.
  • Company Unity: This is a collaborative, personable, and proud of the community they've built.

Job Overview

We are hiring a Low Voltage Technician to install and service security, AV, lighting control, and networking systems across residential and commercial projects throughout the Virginia Beach region.

This is a hands-on installation role for someone who can add value from day one. You should be comfortable pulling and terminating wire, building and installing racks, mounting and configuring devices, and working through an install without someone standing over your shoulder. We're looking for real field installation experience, whether that came from the security and alarm side, the AV and integration side, or a mix of both.

A Virginia Journeyman Electrician license is a strong plus, but it is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling for security, AV, lighting control, and network systems.
  • Install and configure alarm panels, cameras, access control hardware, and related security devices.
  • Build, dress, and install equipment racks; mount and connect displays, speakers, keypads, and control hardware.
  • Install and support lighting control and shading systems alongside the integration team.
  • Set up and troubleshoot networking equipment on job sites.
  • Work independently through assigned scopes of work and troubleshoot issues in the field.
  • Coordinate on site with the integration team, electricians, builders, and other trades.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and commercial clients, including basic system orientation and handoffs.
  • Complete accurate job documentation and maintain vehicle stock and tools.
  • Pursue and maintain manufacturer and platform certifications provided by the company.

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated hands-on field installation experience in security/alarm, AV integration, or low voltage systems.
  • Ability to pull and terminate low voltage cable to a clean, reliable standard.
  • Comfortable working independently on an assigned scope without direct supervision.
  • Experience installing and configuring devices such as alarm panels, cameras, access control, racks, or control hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and a willingness to learn adjacent systems.
  • Professional, client-appropriate presence in occupied homes and businesses.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred

  • Active Virginia Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Experience with Alarm.com and Qolsys security platforms.
  • Access control installation experience.
  • Exposure to Control4, Lutron HomeWorks, or comparable control and lighting platforms.
  • Networking experience with Araknis, Ubiquiti, UniFi, or similar.
  • Electrical background or interest in pursuing electrical licensure.

Physical Demands: This role involves ladder work, access to attics and crawl spaces, lifting and maneuvering equipment, and extended periods of standing, kneeling, and working in unfinished or tight spaces.

Benefits

  • 50% Company-paid Health Insurance
  • 100% Company-paid Dental and Vision Insurance
  • Access to Group Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Paid Company Holidays
  • Company Vehicle Provided
  • All Necessary Tools and Supplies Covered
  • Company-paid alarm and security platform certifications
  • Support toward electrical licensure for technicians who want it

Compensation

$27.00 – $37.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and licensure.
