Food Service Director – Healthcare
Monday–Friday | Healthcare Food Service Leadership

We are hiring an experienced, hands-on Food Service Director to lead the dietary department at a healthcare facility in Columbia, Missouri. This is a Monday–Friday role, but you must be available to step in and cover shifts when staffing needs require it.

We're looking for a dependable leader who can manage a budget, train and develop a team, and take full ownership of daily department operations — someone organized, accountable, and comfortable working with facility leadership, clinical staff, and patients.

Previous food service management experience in a healthcare setting is required.

What You'll Do

• Oversee daily food service and dietary operations, ensuring meals are safe, accurate, on time, and meet quality standards.
• Manage the department's budget — food costs, labor, purchasing, inventory, and waste.
• Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate dietary staff, holding the team accountable for performance and compliance.
• Step in personally to cover shifts when coverage gaps arise.
• Ensure therapeutic diets, portion control, and standardized recipes are followed accurately.
• Maintain compliance with health department, state, and accreditation requirements, and prepare the department for surveys.
• Communicate staffing, operational, and financial issues to leadership promptly.

What You'll Need

• Previous food service management experience in a hospital, behavioral health, skilled nursing, or rehab facility.
• ServSafe Manager certification.
• Experience managing a departmental budget, food costs, and inventory.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to pass a background check as part of the hiring process.

Preferred

• 3+ years of healthcare food service management experience.
• Experience with Joint Commission or health department surveys.
